A huge Wildcat Congratulations to this year's Department of Spanish and Portuguese Outstanding Graduating GAT, Alma Mota! She shares her thoughts on her time here at the U of A: “I am excited to be completing a master’s in Spanish Literature. As my time comes to a close, I reflect on the challenging but equaling rewarding experiences of pursuing what has been a lifelong fascination with language. I firmly believe language learning offers a way to uncover new selves. In the process of pursuing my degree, I have had the opportunity to be part of Literary and Cultural Studies Working Group here the U of A where I have served as treasurer and form part of the Teach Development committee. I am also currently one of the graduate student representatives for the Dean’s Advisory Committee (DAC). Suffice to say, I have had many memorable experiences and have discovered a love of teaching that has redirected my professional goals. In addition to teaching Spanish, I also am part of the YWCA, a nonprofit organization which serves the Latina community where I volunteer and also facilitate ESL classes.” We are so proud of you, Alma; we cannot wait to see where your journey takes you next!
